May 5th 2009: It was our pleasure to host to the
Conservative Party launch for the Euro elections in the main hall.
The leader of the opposition the Rt Hon David Cameron MP addressed a crowd of
140 people and the speech was broadcast live on Sky News and BBC News 24.

Marie organised the teas and coffees and generally looked after all of or
VIP's on the day helped by Audrey Prince and her granddaughter.
Linda Arkley was elected as Mayor of North Tyneside council
shortly after the picture was taken and as she was our independent referee when
we applied for the National Lottery funding back in 1999 it was nice that she
persuaded the top brass of the Conservative Party to use Chirnside House for the
conference. The club is a multi function venue and what better way
to demonstrate the fact than a live TV broadcast. Wendy Morton is the
prospective parliamentary candidate for Tynemouth at the next general election.
If she is to become the MP she will have to beat a good man in Alan Campbell,
the current Labour MP, who has been a great help to us in the past 10 years and
indeed officially opened our building in 2000.
